Country House Bedroom Suite Addition

The client loved the house that NH Architects, Samyn-D’Elia Architects designed for them more than 10 years ago and they decided that now was time to add a new Master Bedroom Suite and Sitting Room to the home.  This home is uniquely styled after the French Provincial model, so the addition was to continue in that style.

Working closely with the client and listening to the program details she and her husband were looking for, the architect developed schematic studies for their review and continued to make changes over several meetings.

The custom design promises to be a stunning, comfortable and unique addition specifically tailored to meet the clients’ expectations.

Although the house and addition  have a timeless and somewhat historical appearance, green building design principles were followed in the materials and mechanical systems.    The insulation from the foundation to the roof exceeds the NH Energy Code standards and all the windows are energy efficient.

Construction is progressing.  The stone trim around the windows adds the French Provincial Tudor detailing.  The windows won’t appear to be modern and energy efficient, but the client will know the difference during the cold windy winter days.

Now that the exterior finishes are almost complete, the stucco, and stone trim create the provincial appearance that the owner was looking for.

The inside of the addition features large timbers as part of the timber frame, post and beam construction.  There is a fire place on both sides of the stucco finished chimney.
