Pemi Youth Center Facade

The wood-frame Pemi Youth Center was built in the late 1800s as the “Pemigewasset Hose Company No.1″ fire station.  When the Youth Center took over the building, funds were not sufficient to renovate the exterior.   Although the activities were vibrant and fresh, the exterior remained uninviting and rundown.

The new facade, designed by Samyn-D’Elia Architects reflects the building’s historical use as a fire station.  This three dimensional model was used as a preliminary concept model to show how the renovation would appear when completed.

The renovation was awarded a Plan New Hampshire Merit Award and 2008 Excellence Award from the Community Development Finance Authority for the improvement to Main Street, Plymouth, NH.

A true community effort, the project was completed using volunteer labor and donations of time and materials from local companies.
